Siena, Italy
The city of Siena lies in the Italian region of Tuscany. The historic centre of the city was accorded Unesco World Heritage Site status in 1995 for its importance as an Italian medieval city. At the heart of the historic centre is the square, the Piazza del Campo. On the southern side of the square lies the Palazzo Pubblico (or townhall) with the 102-metre high tower Torre del Mangia. South-west of the central square lies the thirteenth century cathedral, the Duomo di Siena.
